September has been awarded Best Film of the Festival at The 6th London Short Film Festival.

The UK Film Council team up with The 6th London Short Film Festival to give a £500 cash prize to the Best Film of the Festival. The shortlist is chosen by Festival Directors Philip Ilson and Kate Taylor, choosing a selection of films from across the 13 programmes of ‘new shorts’ screening throughout the Festival. This year’s judges are Lizzie Francke (development producer for the UK Film Council’s Development Fund and previously Artistic Director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival), and Lenny Crooks (Head of the UK Film Council's New Cinema Fund).

22 . 11 . 2009

September, recently awarded Best British Film at Encounters International Film Festival, is enjoying an extensive festival exhibition.

'We were unanimous that the films that stood out were all films that confounded our expectations – in each case we thought we were in for something routine and ordinary, but then found that content or style, or both, revealed unexpected dimensions and extraordinary surprises.' ...

... 'Finally, there was one film that astonished and delighted us by its mature use of cinema to combine deftly managed realism with a dimension of pure magic. For its choice of a story perfectly suited to its screentime, for the pleasingly understated performances of its leading players, and for its apparently effortless blending of disparate elements to create an entirely credible world, the British Council AWARD for the overall best British film goes to... Esther May Campbell for SEPTEMBER'
- The British jury at Encounters Film Festival 2008

11 . 12 . 2008

Invada records are also putting out a DVD/CD/recipe book early in 2009. The music compilation will be on vinyl and will include music from the film and music that has inspired the work. This includes A Hawk And A Hacksaw, Elizabeth Nancy, James Blackshaw and more.

September recently played at Atlantic, the film was reviewed here:
www.bitdepth.org/2008/10/11/atlantic-film-festival-2008

“A short film from England by Esther May Campbell, September is a poetic look at growing up with a young man who works at a fast food restaurant located beside a highway. Beautifully shot in an enigmatic and poetic style, it’s subtle and magical. It’s a perfect example of how a short film can create a world that takes us away and provides perspective on how people are. It was definitely my favourite short film of the festival and I kept thinking about it for days.”

17 . 9 . 2008

The film’s European premier was at Milano, its UK premier was at the BFI London Film Festival where it played to two sell out audiences. It has also played at AZAdigitalCINEMAfestival and Akbank.
